Samuel Rand is writing in response to a summons to pay a tax bill on 'Lynn Farm' that may have been somewhere in the Charlestown area. This farm was supposedly a place for the poor and Samuel stating that he has paid the tax and also has an abatement from 1752 that was signed and agreed to by the Selectmen of the town. Taxation without representation in the British Parliament.
