This is a true and original French rule book for card games. It would have been owned and used by the French aristocracy in their gaming rooms in Paris, Versaille, or in their manor homes and chateaux in late 18th century France. This book was published during the reign of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. One of the titles of one of the chapters is 'Regles du Wischt Bostonien, Du Maryland, Et Du Tre-Sette' which in English is: 'RULES OF THE BOSTONIAN WISCHT, THE MARYLAND, AND THE TRE-SETTE'. So, one of the chapters gives the rules of different games of Whist which was a very popular game in 18th century France. It is 3.5" x 5.5" x 1".
