1798 Young Horatio H Fiske's Shakespeare Quotes with Drawings

$39.95Price

A beautiful little set of quotes from Shakespeare surrounded by wonderful shapes and designs along with the signature of a young Horatio Hancock Fiske (1790-1829). Young Master Fiske was 8 years old when he made this little drawing with quotes from two of Shakespeare's plays, All's Well That Ends Well and Henry VII and he was quite the artist. He was born in Arlington. MA and only lived to be 39 years old. He married Letitia (Whittemore) Fisk (thus aligning himself with the Whittemore family), and they had four children with only two of them living beyond their first few days. Horatio and his family lived in Boston, MA until his death on September 13, 1829.

He was originally buried at Park St Church in Boston but his body was re-interred Sept 21, 1848 at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. This is because his widow (who never re-married) moved to Cambridge in 1848 and lived there until her death in 1891 at the age of 91. She and her love are now together again, buried in plot 1545 in the Mount Auburn Cemetery.

It is 5.5" x 6" and would be beautiful framed as a piece of art.
