1804 Benjamin Fessenden Bill for Supplies - B. and A.D. Fessenden Company
This is an 1804 payment/order sheet for Benjamin Fessenden of Townsend, MA. Benjamin was the grandfather of Benjamin Fessenden who was the owner, along with his son, of B. and A.D. Fessenden Company that was at one time the largest coopering firms in New England. Antique barrels and kegs made by the Fessenden Company can still be found today and are very collectible. Benjamin Fessenden (1772-1837), who signed this payment/order form was one of the earliest coopers in Townsend, MA and helped to make the town one of the largest producers of kegs, barrels, and other forms of storage. One this form are payments for oak and bark from Samuel Emmons.
