With the remaining title stating: "In which the Elements of that Science are Familiarly Explained and Illustrated by Experiments and Plates : to which are Added, Some Late Discoveries on the Subject of the Fixed Alkalies", this early Chymistry book was written by Jane (Haldimand) Marcet but her name did not appear as the author until 1832. Before that year, the author was listed as H. Davy Esq. who's lectures she summarized and popularized in her books. Conversations on Chymistry was written so that the 'normal' adult and schoolchildren could understand it and it became one of the first elementary science textbooks. She even drew her own illustrations that accompany the book and went on to write other science books. In her later years she wrote mainly for children. It has some loss of covering to the spine and some foxing on interior pages but all of her illustrations are intact and in very good shape.
