1817 Payment for Cleaning Out A Vault
A Mr. Silbee (not sure of spelling) paid Dr. Jeremiah Bridge (1769-1826) $8.64 to have his men clean out his vault. These little pieces of our history are so intriguing. Who was Mr 'Silibee'? and why would a doctor have men clean out a vault? What was so bad about that vault that it needed to be cleaned out? Was it a bank vault, personal vault, or a stone vault? It could have been in a cathedral, church, bank, or other building. A nice little 'mystery' to hang in your home for a good conversation starter.
