$39.00Price

This is a RARE original copy of the 1819 'Transactions of the Medical Society of the State of New York Together With The Annual Address, by John Stearns, M.D. President of the Society and Two Cases in Surgery'.

The annual address given by Dr. John Stearns (Society President 1816-1820) was on the relationship between the geophysical conditions of the earth and the diseases of men which is an interesting speech. This pamphlet also contains information on 'Two Cases in Surgery'  with the first article entitled ''Case of Bronchotomy' and tells the story of a seven year old child who 'drew a large, dried garden bean into her trachea' and the subsequent problems that ensued after the bean became "stuck in her chest".

The second case is 'An Unusual Case of Polypus, in the throat and cavities of the face successfully treated by Dr. Trowbridge'.

It is very interesting to read these two cases and how they were treated 197 years ago.

The pamphlet is complete and contains its entire 39 pages with some of the pages concerning the two surgical cases still uncut.
