Thisis a letter - in pamphlet form -  written by the Reverend Freeborn Garrettson to The Reverend Lyman Beecher (Harriet Beecher Stowe's father) titled:

"A Letter to the Rev. Lyman Beecher: Containing Strictures and Animadversions on a Pamphlet Entitled An Address of the Charitable Society for the Education of Indigent Pious Young Men for the Ministry of the Gospel".

In this pamphlet, Freeborn Garrettson who was an abolitionist and Methodist preacher, is angry with Beecher and his portrayal of the influence of the Methodist faith in New England.  According to Beecher, Methodists were without religious instruction by ministers throughout New England and 'the west' saying that the United States are more destituteof religious instruction than any other Christian nation under heaven. This is an interesting response to the dismissive nature of Lyman Beecher's attitude toward the Methodist religion.

A very interesting read.
