1832 An Oration Washington Light Infantry Company - Washington's Birthday
This is an original issue of an oration given to the Washington Light Infantry Company at the Centennial Celebration of the Birth-Day of Washington. This oration was given on February 22, 1832 in celebration of the birthday of President George Washington on the 100th anniversary of his birthday.
The Washington Light Infantry Company of Newburyport, MA was established March 25, 1800, only three months after his death, and seemed to be mostly a commemorative company, at least in Newburyport, MA. This chapter was one of the first of its kind in our new country and was formed in respect to President Washington. The Washington DC chapter formed in 1855, eventually became the core of the National Guard in the district. The last remaining chapter of the Washington Light Infantry Company is in South Carolina and is still active today.
If you are a George Washington fan or collector, then it is a rare and unusual pamphlet that shows the love and devotion towards our first president and the celebrations that were observed each year on Washington's birthday.Offered with FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING.
