Maria was underage at the time of his death in 1861 so her uncle Henry Frank was appointed her guardian by the Orphan's Court of Lancaster County, PA. In 1864, when she had reached the age of 21, she was able to get her inheritance of $5833.66. This is the original document with the seal of the Recorder of Deeds of Lancaster County, PA clearly visible on this document. Maria, born in 1843, died unmarried in 1888 of typhoid fever.

Samuel Leaman was the Recorder of Deeds and Henry Kurtz was the JOP who wrote out the letter for Maria to sign.
