1865 Reconstruction Speech of the Honorable Thaddeus Stevens - Lancaster, PA
This is an EXTREMELY RARE and original copy of the speech that the Honorable Thaddeus Stevens gave on September 7, 1865 and it is titled:
Reconstruction. Speech of the Hon. Thaddeus Stevens, delivered in the city of Lancaster, September 7th, 1865.
It is a personal German language copy of this speech that was owned and saved by a Lancaster County, PA resident who may have even gone to hear the speech. I bought it in Lancaster, PA as part of a large collection of eastern Pennsylvania papers, documents, and deeds.
It is complete and can be read if handled carefully. It was and always has been a personal, uncut copy of this important speech.
I cannot emphasis enough that this is an original copy of that speech given by the Honorable Thaddeus Stevens who was a member of the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania and one of the leaders of the Radical Republican faction of the Republican Party during the 1860s.
