This is a 19th century edition of 'The Saints' Everlasting Rest' that was first written in 1650 by John Baxter. It is considered one of the greatest classics of Christian devotion and this edition was printed by the American Tract Society (ATS). From its inception in 1825 to 1876, the ATS did not use publishing dates but a range of dates can be gleaned from the addresses and cities in which the books were published. This book was published starting in 1847 at 150 Nassau-Street in NYC.

The best thing about this edition of 'The Saints' Everlasting Rest' is that we know who owned it and her name was Abigail Y. Merrill (1812-1885). There is some discrepancy in Abigail's birth year with her gravestone having it as 1812 but most other references has her birth in 1812. Abigail was married to Deering Merrill who died at the age of 34-35 in 1840 and she did not re-marry after his death. They had one child, Elizabeth T. Merrill who lived until 1831-1906 (75 years old). It is possible that this little book was a great comfort to her in the years after Deering's death.
