This is a set of early 19th century deeds and documents concerning the Jacob Gould family of Sudbury, Massachusetts. There are several signatures of Revolutionary War soldiers on these documents and they include:
Jacob Gould - Sudbury. Private, Capt. Joseph Smith's (Sudbury) co. Col. James Barrett's regt., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775; service, 2 days.
Nathaniel Reeves - Sudbury. Sergeant, Capt. Nathaniel Cudworth s co. of Minute-men, Col. Abijah Peirce s regt., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775; service, 5 days; also, Ensign, Capt. Thaddeus Russell s co. ; return of Col. Jonathan Brewer s regt. showing officers to be commissioned ; recom mended in Committee of Safety at Cambridge, June 17, 1775, that said officers be commissioned by Provincial Congress ; muster roll dated Aug. 1, 1775 ; engaged April 24, 1775 ; service, 3 mos., 2 weeks, 1 day; also, company return [probably Oct., 1775].
Micah Goodenow - Sudbury. Sergeant, Capt. John Nixon's co. of Minute-men, Col. Abijah Pierce's regt., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775; service, 5 days; «7«o. Lieutenant, Capt. David Moore's co.. Col. John Nixon's (5th) regt.; muster roll dated Aug. 1, 1775 ; engaged April 24, 1775 ; service, 3 mos. 15 da.vs ; also, company return dated Sept. 30, 1775.
There are other names from these families that were involved with the Gould family of Sudbury and I am sure there are more signatures of other patriots within this set of documents. Some have been repaired with professional grade document tape and others are in as found shape.
