Five Dissertations on Fever by George Fordyce. This is the second American printing and it is in good condition. Easy to read with some loosening of the front board but it is still fully attached. There are five dissertations on the reasons for fevers with each dissertation having a special half-title page. The book, Four Dissertations on Fever was written in 1800 by Fordyce who was distinguished Scottish physician, lecturer on medicine, and chemist. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and died in 1802. The original book was Four Dissertations on Fever and was written between 1794 and 1803. A fifth dissertation, which completed the subject, was left by him in manuscript form, and posthumously published as Five Dissertations on Fever.
